Phinney Ridge

Phinney Ridge is situated at the top of a 350-foot ridge, and lies just north of Fremont between Ballard and Greenlake. It is known for being home to the Woodland Park Zoo, as well as having fabulous views of Downtown Seattle, the Cascades and Olympic mountain ranges. Greenwood Avenue North rich with restaurants, shops and coffee shops. Parking and crowds can be a concern near the zoo, which draws more than a million visitors each year.
Phinney Ridge consists primarily of long-time local and young middle to upper-class professionals. Young professionals continue to migrate to the area, as real estate prices can be relatively reasonable for such a convenient Seattle location.

Foreclosure on a new home brought Mountain Wind Family into existence. This was the original introduction and images showing how we learned to build log cabins from a bush woman from Alaska who met us in Washington and along with her family taught us the skills we needed to survive the wilderness. Filmed on analogue gear in 1988. Edited with Panasonic editing Deck AG 1950 and an Amiga 500. Removed to digital in 2009. Original song by Crosby Stills Nash and Young was removed because they record for WMG. current song was also used in the original video but in a different place. It is done along with Sony (*purchased original Windham Hill) who still has a contract with YouTube

Let me tell you the short/long story of our move to Washington State.
In 1967, Cleveland Ohio, we were good friends with the Shuttleworths who had just started Mother Earth News out of a small house in North Madison Ohio. They had a dream. They shared their dream and we bought into the philosophy but we were too young and naive to understand. Many others were not, or felt that they were
not. Some got real lucky but the times were so very different.

We tried over the period of a few years to find our dream of self sufficient living in the country. We didn’t succeed for a variety of reasons, but one was NOT that there was no land for us. So we shelved our dream in a place that even we forgot.

A few years later on, after moving to the Mendocino Coast in another search for “real life”, we re-established the dream of finding self sufficiency. and it took another few years to fall upon it, after being deluded into thinking that the Spirit of the land movement was dead. We tried being semi-yuppies without success, after opening and
closing a computer store on the Coast. We bought into a modular home in Woodland California with 1/10 acre of very sun dried ground. At 800 dollars per month mortgage and after months of finding just the right eatery and expresso houses, we gave up in bankruptcy.

As quick as a shot in a child’s arm we found a real estate company in Washington that was selling remote parcels of property for no money down and 199.50 a month. Being without any other catalyst to take us up
the ladder we felt no remorse at leaving the city to try something new! And we have so far succeeded in doing what we set out to do.

Lake City

Today Lake City retains much of its original small town atmosphere with much of the neighborhood sheltered from traffic. Tight-nit communities still exist in the residential parts of Lake City, but there are an abundance of apartments along busy Lake City Way. The neighborhood manages to feel secluded due to its location in the utmost northeast corner of Seattle, but the commute across to I-5 or around the northern edge of Lake Washington is still quite quickly accessed.

Westlake Seattle Washington Real Estate

Westlake is a neighborhood in the city of Seattle, in the US state of Washington, named after its location on the western shore of Lake Union. It is a relatively narrow neighborhood, there being only a few blocks between the shoreline and its western limit at Aurora Avenue N., beyond which is Queen Anne. To the south beyond Aloha Street is South Lake Union, and to the north across the Fremont Cut is Fremont. Its main thoroughfares are Dexter and Westlake Avenues N. (north- and southbound).

Maple Leaf

The neighborhoods of Ravenna and Maple Leaf lie north of the University District and east of Greenlake. Ravenna, named after the ravine that winds through the neighborhood, surrounds beautiful Ravenna Park with its many walking trails and tennis courts for locals to enjoy. In 1986, Maple Leaf was chosen to be one of three finalists for the Neighborhood of the Year by a national organization.
It is a quiet neighborhood with lovely, well-preserved homes and nice yards. Its close proximity to Greenlake makes it a common rental spot for residents who desire a young family neighborhood.
The majority of residents are young families and UW faculty and staff, as well as recent university graduates. Residents are attracted to this area by the relatively affordable housing prices and rental rates.

Northgate

Northgate was the winner of a national “neighborhood of the year” award because of its safe, quiet streets and plentiful trees. This neighborhood is close to I-5, Highway 99, Greenlake and North Seattle Community College and is within 20 minutes of Downtown Seattle. Northgate Mall is the central attraction for this primarily residential area. Another plus for this neighborhood is its convenient access to the metro bus lines, easing the morning and evening commutes.

Seward Park Seattle Washington Real Estate

Seward Park
Adjacent Seward Park was named for the park that juts into Lake Washington from its southwest shore. Seward Park may be as diverse in its housing as it is racially. Impressive homes were built on a ridge overlooking the lake, Mount Rainier and the Cascades to take advantage of the views. Inland, the homes are more modest, yet within walking distance of the lake, the park and the scenery. Residential turnover has been low.
